Position Overview

At Paylocity, we’re looking for a Staff Testing Engineer to take our testing practices to the next level.

In this role, you’ll lead the charge of building cutting-edge testing frameworks, driving automation, and ensuring our products exceed the expectations of our clients.

As a key player in our engineering team, you’ll collaborate with talented developers, mentor future testing leaders, and champion innovation in quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities

+ Design and maintain scalable test automation frameworks and strategies

+ Define and align system-level test strategies across teams

+ Improve automation to speed up delivery with better results

+ Provide input on design and architecture from a testing perspective

+ Develop and track quality metrics to drive continuous improvement

+ Lead technical discussions on testing infrastructure

+ Mentor engineers and promote a quality-first culture

+ Partner with product owners, engineers, and stakeholders ensure automated test frameworks are aligned with the overall goals, requirements, and deadlines of project deliverables

+ Support hiring, technical innovation, and company-wide initiatives

Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field

+ 7+ years in software testing and automation

+ Proficiency in automated testing frameworks and tools with a background in mobile app testing

+ Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript or similar languages

+ Hands-on experience with frameworks like Cypress or Playwright

+ Experience designing and implementing testing strategies for mobile applications across both native and cross-platform/hybrid environments

+ Familiarity with tools such as Xcode, Android Studio, and browser dev tools

+ Experience with CI/CD pipelines and mobile build systems

+ Strong understanding of test architecture, including the tradeoffs between unit, integration, and end-to-end testing

+ Experience leading testing initiatives and mentoring engineers

+ Analytical and problem-solving skills

+ Familiarity with agile development practices

Nice to Have

+ Experience testing mobile apps on iOS and Android, ideally in both native and hybrid codebases

+ Use of Storybook for component testing

+ Knowledge of release processes, observability, and test management tools (e.g.,Qase)
Physical requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods: The role requires sitting at a desk or workstation for long periods, typically 7-8 hours a day.



• Use of computer and phone systems: The employee must be able to operate a computer, use phone systems, and type.

This includes using multiple software programs and inquiries simultaneously.
